The Benefice of Epperstone, Gonalston, Oxton and Woodborough

Dear Friends,

September brings with it so much that is about change. New school and university term, the closing of summer, shorter days, and this year, another new phase in the Coronavirus lockdown lifting and guidance.

We certainly hold our schools, staff and pupils in our prayers as they welcome back children. Some children haven’t been in school for many months. And we pray for the many in other places in education elsewhere. My two both return to university studies in September, and we pray for all returning, and for those going to university for the first time as well.

Our four churches will also see change. We aim to be able to hold limited attendance Communion services from 13th September. As I write, the details of these are still being worked out so please keep an eye on our websites, noticeboards and newsletters. The online worship will continue weekly alongside these new opportunities to worship and the churches will remain open on Sundays for private prayer.

Change is something we have all had to face at times in our lives, some of us deal with change easier than others but it is never without its challenges.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the many people in our churches who have looked after us spiritually, as well as practically, over the past six months of change. Staff, church wardens, musicians, and many, many volunteers. Thank you.

As we move into this next phase we hold fast to our faithful God who is unchanging. Unchanging in His love and care. He journeys with us. Alongside, before and around us and blesses us in our journey.

Warmly, Anthony
